Carroll, Lewis. (2010). Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Create Space Publishing. ISBN 978-1452843834

A whimsical story about a young girl named Alice who becomes very sleepy while frolicking with her sister on the banks of a river. Alice follows a curious rabbit down a hole and discovers a magical world of talking animals and potions. She even enjoys tea with the Hatter and other curious creatures. Leaving the tea, Alice runs into a clever, yet cynical, hookah-smoking caterpillar. Alice encounters several creatures and gets involved in some serious incidents, like the run in with a nasty Queen.

This is an excellent read for any child, but will certainly be appreciated by tweens and teens who love fantasy. The story has several puns and inside jokes only understandable to older children, yet the story has generally been targeted to younger children. It provides an excellent array of scenes to stimulate any imagination. Alice's character encounters some of the most beloved characters ever read in any novel. The Cheshire Cat alone has stood the test of time, as has the Mad Hatter. However, while the plot of the story always seems to be very vague, the creativity is certainly not on the short side of things. Overall, the nuances and innuendos within this classic tale can be repeatedly dissected by even the most advanced readers.
